A third person in Fort McMurray has died from COVID-19.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Monday 4,488 new cases across the province over the past four days.
This raises the provincial total to 98,269 with 15,487 currently active. There are also 878 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 148 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added 71 new cases and 88 additional recoveries which lowers the active total to 187.
The rural areas saw two new cases and four recoveries which lowers the total of active cases to five.
In total, 1,168 individuals across the RMWB – 1054 in Fort McMurray and 114 in the rural areas – have recovered.
They are among the 81,780 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 83 per cent of reported cases.
There were also 112 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past day – raising the total to 1002.
