Families of students at École Dickinsfield are being encouraged to keep their kids home as the school deals with a COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the Fort McMurray Public School Division, 10 individuals with ties to the school have tested positive for the school.
The first case popped up on December 7.
The school will remain open for Thursday and Friday for those who can’t keep their children at home and can’t access childcare on short notice.
Classes are only scheduled for Thursday.
Parents and guardians who decide to keep their children home must email [email protected].
They can also contact the front office to pick up essential belongings. If the items aren’t important, it’s recommended they leave them at the school over the winter break.
The FMPSD is looking to shift classes to online where possible.
The first week of school back from the winter break will be at-home teaching as all schools prepare to return to in-person learning.
