Five new cases of COVID-19 are being discovered in Fort Mcmurray over the past 24 hours.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced on Wednesday 98 new cases across the province. This raises the provincial total to 15,191 with 1,585 currently active.
Fort McMurray now has 62 active cases after discovering five new cases and seeing nine additional recoveries.
The rural areas removed two cases from the recovery count and added them into active, raising the active total to four.
Across the RMWB, 167 individuals – 109 in Fort McMurray and 58 in the rural areas – have recovered from the virus.
They are among the 13,358 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents nearly 88 per cent of reported cases.
There was one new death from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours – raising the the death toll to 248.
One of these deaths happened in Fort Mcmurray over the weekend – no other information is known about the individual at this time.
