The McMurray Métis are partnering on a new long-term agreement with Suncor Energy.

They announced the plan on Thursday which focuses on joint priorities such as the environment, business contracts, and jobs.

“This agreement is a true sign of respect by Suncor and for the betterment of our 660 plus proud members of the Métis Nation of Alberta,” said Bill Loutitt, McMurray Métis CEO.

Members of Suncor’s Joint Leadership Committee joined the McMurray Métis on Wednesday for a gathering along the Clearwater River to celebrate the new agreement.

“With much to learn from Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, this agreement signifies a concerted effort from everyone involved to work together to ensure mutual benefits are realized long-term,” added Mike MacSween, Suncor Executive Vice-President, Upstream.
