It was a busy Canada Day long weekend for local police keeping our area roads safe.
Between June 28 and July 1, the Wood Buffalo Integrated Traffic Unit issued 179 tickets for various reasons.
Four of them were for excessive speeding.
ITU members nabbed the motorists traveling between 166 km/h and 186 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.
Police also laid 3 criminal code charges for impaired driving, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code of Canada.
