One 40-year-old woman is being charged after a drug seizure in Fort Chipewyan.

RCMP officers intercepted the woman at the hamlet’s airport on November 20 around 4:00 p.m. where they found a number of illegal substances.

This included 468 grams of cannabis, four grams of suspected heroin, and 24 grams of Shatter.

Lisa Rose Wanderingspirit was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of unlawfully distributing and possession of a controlled substance.

“This seizure is a great example of our crime reduction initiative,” said Sergeant Cal Barter, Detachment Commander at Fort Chipewyan Detachment., in a release. “Using an intelligence-led policing approach, our members removed drugs from the community.”

Wanderingspirit is scheduled to make her next court appearance in Fort Chipewyan Provincial Court on January 3, 2019.
