Fort McMurray, AB, Canada / MIX 103.7

Fort McMurray’s new theatre is set to open on Friday.

Landmark Cinemas’ ‘luxury recliner seating movie-going experience’ will feature eight theatres, 867 reclining seats, footrests, and ample space for each moviegoer.

Vice President of Operations for Landmark Cinemas James Mason tells Mix News they simply wanted to give residents a better experience.

“It’s a great way to experience movie going, we are for movie lovers and the big screen and the big sound is there to deliver that to the residents of Fort McMurray.”

The downtown location is set to close its doors on Thursday after being open for years, 11 of which being operated by Landmark.

“It was time to bring a new theatre and new experience to the residents of Fort McMurray – the residents have been very supportive of our theatre downtown and we’re really excited to bring this,” added Mason.

As of Tuesday, 35 per cent of tickets for Friday’s opening have already been sold.
