The numbers are in. 86% of parents help themselves to at least a portion of their kids’ Halloween candy. It’s called taxation, and it’s a valuable exercise for our youth to learn from. But some of these other statistics might surprise you.

 

2000 Americans were surveyed by Crest (1000 parents, 1000 non-parents) about Halloween candy:

  • 44% of parents will eat more candy than their kids at Halloween
  • The average parents eats a quarter of their kid’s earnings
  • 73% of non-parents buy more candy than they think they’ll need
  • 58% of adults limit their candy binging on Halloween night
  • 75% of parents limit their kid’s candy binging on Halloween night
  • 41% of parents compensate for the candy with an extra healthy dinner
  • 50% of adults eat leftover candy until its done
  • 39% leave it out for guests or decoration
  • 35% of adults try to pawn off excess candy on their co-workers
