A local teen is getting a chance to play hockey for Team Canada on an international stage.
Hockey Canada announced on Tuesday its 66-man roster for this year’s World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Fort McMurray native Sebastian Cossa will get the chance to play for one of three Canadian teams – Canada Red, Canada Black or Canada White.
The 15-year-old goaltender is a prospect for the Edmonton Oil Kings, getting a chance to play for the team during the pre-season before getting hurt.
The Hockey Challenge has featured hundreds of former and current NHL players, such as Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, and Alex Ovechkin.
Players from the United States, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, and Sweden will all compete for a gold medal.
The tournament will be held in Saint John and Quispamsis, New Brunswick from November 3 – 10.
