Keyano To Host 2019 ACAC Women's Basketball Championships

Some of the best women basketball players in Alberta are coming to Fort McMurray next year.

For the first time in its history, Keyano College is hosting the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference women’s basketball championships from February 28 – March 2.

“Hosting an ACAC Championship is an honor and it is a particular privilege for us to host the 2019 ACAC Women’s Basketball Conference Championships this season,” said Jonathan Lambert, Athletic Director of Sport & Student Wellness. “It will be an opportunity for the community to experience some of the best women’s college basketball offered in Alberta.”

This comes after the Huskies finished its best season since joining the ACAC in 2010 – placing first in the North Division with an 18-6 win-loss record. They were also ranked 4th in Canada, the first time receiving a national ranking.

A core of last year’s team is returning for the 2018-19 season.

Staff says they’re confident the Huskies will be competitive at the provincial tournament.

All games will be played at the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre.
