RCMP Arrest Two, Recover Stolen Vehicle Following Collision In Thickwood

Two Fort McMurray men have been arrested and face a combined 10 charges following a collision in Thickwood.

On Monday between 5 p.m. – 6 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP received several calls about a stolen vehicle, theft from a business, an erratic and impaired driver, then a call regarding a crash.

Police say a driver and passenger fled on foot after the incidents and were arrested a short time later.

One person was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries sustained in the collision.

23-year-old Dylan Kevin Janvier now faces eight charges, including;

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00, Section 354(1)(a) C.C.C.
  • Fail to Stop or Remain, Section 252(1.2) C.C.C.
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Section 249(1)(1) C.C.C.
  • 4x Fail to Comply with Conditions, Section 145(3) C.C.C.
  • Theft Under $5000.00, Section 224(b) C.C.C.
  • Adult Drive uninsured motor vehicle on highway, Section 54(1)(a) T.S.A.
  • Adult Operate Motor Vehicle without holding a subsisting operator’s licence, Section 51(a) T.S.A.,
  • Improper Disposal of Waste on Public Land, Section 178 E.P.E.

While a 22-year-old man, who hasn’t been named as the charges have yet to be sworn, faces two charges;

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.00, Section 354(1)(a) C.C.C.
  • Theft Under $5000.00, Section 334(b) C.C.C.

Anyone with surveillance or dash camera footage from Thickwood Boulevard and Signal Road between 5 p.m. and 5: 45 p.m. Monday is asked to call RCMP.
