Two Fort McMurray men are facing charges after they were seen racing their cars along Highway 63.
On August 30, two drivers were seen speeding on the highway, near Suncor – around 15 kilometres north of Fort McMurray.
The vehicles in question, a Mercedes and a BMW were recorded at speeds as high as 208 kilometres per hour in a posted 100-zone.
Officers in the Integrated Traffic Unit were able to stop both cars and the drivers – ages 40 and 29, were both arrested on scene.
Both men have been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and will appear in court.
The ITU is reminding drivers that racing and speeding is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and is not worth engaging in at any time.
