You will no longer be able to fly directly from Fort McMurray to Toronto using WestJet.
The airline company is canceling all their services between the two communities as of October 26, 2018.
People will still be able to use WestJet to fly to Edmonton and Calgary.
In an email sent to Mix News, the airline says they’re committed to reducing costs and improving profitability resulting in some services being canceled to save money.
“We had anticipated stronger demand on the YMM/YYZ route that did not materialize and as such, the decision was made to discontinue this route.”
West adds they’re still focused on providing their service at the Fort McMurray International Airport.
“We remain committed to the city and the region with four daily flights to Edmonton and five daily flights to our Calgary hub.”
Anyone who booked a direct flight to Toronto past October 26 will automatically be rebooked via Calgary or Edmonton depending on their itinerary.
