NHL free agent forward Scottie Upshall is coming back to play in his home province.
The Edmonton Oilers announced on Sunday they have signed the 34-year-old Fort McMurray native to a professional tryout.
Upshall appeared in 63 games for St. Louis last season, posting seven goals and 19 assists.
His NHL career has spanned 15 seasons and 759 career games with Nashville, Philadephia, Phoenix/Arizona, Columbus, Florida, and St. Louis.
Before being drafted in 2002, the 6’0”, 201-pound forward suited up for the Fort McMurray Oil Barons from 1999-00 – helping lead the Junior A squad to its first Royal Bank Cup.
