The Alberta Energy Regulator is scheduling a public hearing for a proposed oilsands project north of Fort McMurray.
Imperial Oil Resources Limited’s Aspen Project is up for discussion.
The site would be 45 km northeast of the community, around 20 km east of Fort McKay.
Work on the project would span over three phases, ending with central steam generation and bitumen processing plant facilities. It would look to produce 162,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
The AER is giving individuals and groups a chance to have their say on the project before deciding to allow Imperial to move forward with the project.
As of right now, no date has been set for the hearing as they wait to see what the potential turnout will be.
