Construction Season Underway Across RMWB

You will notice a lot of construction when driving on our area roadways.

Construction season is well underway as work on roads, sewers, and buildings are continuing across Fort McMurray and the rural hamlets.

Major work is being done on Confederation Way as milling and paving work is currently causing some lanes to be closed off in both directions as crews continue to revamp the area.

The sewer bypass project is also ongoing.

“We’re looking to continue on with that project and kind of connected to that is the Thickwood Perimeter Sewer Project,” said Adam Hardiman, Communications Strategist and Stakeholders Relations with the RMWB.

He says this project will help with larger water volumes, specifically when the area is hit with a torrential downpour again.

Meanwhile, the municipality is also expecting to finish the extension of Clearwater Drive.

Work has been ongoing for a few years and should be completed this year.

“It’s going to allow Franklin Avenue to be better utilized, be more efficient, and you’ll have the ability to take that nice drive down the river from Clearwater to Morrison,” added Hardiman.

More information about each project can be found at rmwb.ca/construction.

“These projects create jobs and they make our community a better place to live so we thank [residents] for their patients, understanding, and support.”

Rural Projects

The Conklin Multiplex is moving ahead as planned.

The 50 million facility is expected to be opened later this year.

Construction on the rural water, sewer, and road rehabilitation project continues in the southern hamlets. That project is expected to be fully finished sometime in 2020.

Also, work is ongoing for the Fort McKay and Anzac Fire Halls.
