The recent rainy weather has left its mark on Fort McMurray.
According to Environment Canada, we’ve received roughly 88 mm of rain from Saturday to Tuesday.
This has led to a section of Highway 63 being closed due to a mudslide.
Alberta Transportation says the southbound lane that bypasses downtown should be reopened on Friday.
This all depends on a geotechnical report being done on the hill.
Tower Road has also been temporarily closed at the 6 km mark due to a due to a washout at the 8.3 km mark.
Meanwhile, the municipality is closing all sports parks for the time being to give them a chance to dry.
Residents are being asked to avoid using them so they don’t damage the turf.
