The process to decide whether to move forward with a proposed oilsands project north of Fort McMurray will start in a couple months.
Construction on Teck Resources’ Frontier Oilsands Mine, which would be located around 110 km north of town, has been delayed as a Joint Review Panel continues to conduct an environmental assessment.
The panel will start the hearing at MacDonald Island Park on September 25 – starting at 9 a.m.
They will also be travelling to Fort Chipewyan in mid-October to conduct a portion of the hearing in the rural hamlet. This comes after a request from the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation.
Potential participants will have until August 31 to send in a submission for the hearing.
