More than 1000 people in the riding of Fort McMurray-Conklin have cast a ballot ahead of this week’s byelection.
According to Elections Alberta, 1074 residents took advantage of the advance polls which were open for five days last week.
This is up from the 2015 General Election when 719 people voted ahead of time – however, there was one less day.
Five candidates are running to become the next MLA, including NDP candidate Jane Stroud, Laila Goodridge representing the United Conservative Party, Alberta Party candidate Sid Fayad, Liberal candidate Robin Le Fevre, and Brian Deheer representing the Green Party.
Residents in the riding who haven’t already marked an ‘X’ can do so Thursday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
In order to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, live in the electoral riding, and be at least 18-year-old or older on Election Day. Voters are reminded to bring their Where-to-Vote cards with them to the polls.
