The Fort McMurray Giants just can’t seem to buy a break.
Fort McMurray fell for the 4th straight game, again losing to the Medicine Hat Mavericks in extra innings by a score of 5-2.
The Giants squandered a dazzling pitching effort from starter Nick Cardinal – who threw seven solid innings in his third start of the season.
The Bonnyville native gave up just one run and also struck out three batters while lowering his ERA to a staggering 0.67.
Following Cardinal’s departure, the bullpen surrendered four runs including three in the top of the tenth inning.
Relief pitcher Allan Brown took the brunt of the damage, getting saddled with the loss.
The loss drops the G-Men to 5-10 on the year, good for fifth in their division.
They’ll try and stop the bleeding and avoid a fifth straight loss as they continue their series with the Mavs at Shell Place tonight.
First pitch is just after 7:30 p.m.
