The McMurray Dirt Riders Association is getting set for its 2018 racing season.
MDRA is a local motocross club for riders in the area – located on Highway 63 – about 4 kilometres south of the Highway 69 intersection, just outside Fort McMurray.
President Matty McFee tells Mix News they are always looking for members and are providing opportunities for kids all summer long.
“Every second week we have what we call a ‘Junior Rider Club,’ and for members it’s free and for non-members, it’s $20. Any kid on a 50-CC bike to a 100-CC can come out and get instructions from a couple of our guys.”
The MDRA do ten local races each season at their course and encourage anyone who might be interested to come out and support local racers.
McFee adds if you want you to check out a race – they’ll be hosting the first round of the Alberta Dirt Riders Association provincial competition later this month.
“What happens is we do the first and second race and the rest of the riders will travel around the province. That is set for June 23-24 and is free of charge.”
