A Fort McMurray Catholic School District student will have one less burden when she enters university in fall.
After a lengthy application process and interview, Holy Trinity’s Hannah MacDonald found out at the end of March she is the recipient of a $61,000 scholarship from the University of Calgary’s School of Engineering.
“I kind of freaked out a little. I had to show my mom. My mom was so excited,” said MacDonald in a release. “I can do what I need to do to succeed now. It’s a weight off my shoulders. It feels like all of the work has paid off.”
The grade 12 student is thinking of going into software development and will specialize when she knows exactly what she wants to do.
“This doesn’t happen to most people. I’m so very thankful.”
