Two Men Arrested On Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

Two men are facing a number of drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Gregoire last weekend.

On Saturday around 9:30 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP officers pulled over a vehicle for failing to yield.

This is when police discovered and seized roughly 100 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, along with a few thousand dollars in Canadian currency.

28-year-old Mohammed Ahmed from Calgary and 23-year-old Poppon Mpoza of Edmonton have now been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purposes of trafficking, among other things.

Mpoza has now been remanded in police custody.

The pair are scheduled to appear in a Fort McMurray courtroom on May 22.
