$120,000 was raised over the weekend in support of the Humboldt Broncos.

On Saturday, Fort McMurrayites were out in full force for a free public skate at the Casman Centre and a silent auction at Boston Pizza in downtown Fort McMurray, to honour the 16 fallen lives that were taken over a week ago, when their team bus collided with a semi-truck about 30 kilometres south of Tisdale, Saskatchewan – as they were on route to Nipawin for a playoff game.

Prior to the events, organizer Mark Hartigan told Mix News he was overwhelmed by the support.

“I’m so energized, I’m so pumped, this is so amazing. I can’t believe the amount of support, the items coming in – I’m just overwhelmed how this community steps up time, time, and time again.”
