Family Upset After Tent Trailer Stolen, Only Item That Survived Wildfire

A family is looking for answers after their trailer was stolen – the only thing that survived the Horse River wildfire.

After coming back from an Easter trip in Calgary, Stephanie Williams and her two sons soon realized their camper was missing from their property in Abasand.

After a quick call to one of their neighbours, she was told two men took the trailer on Good Friday.

Williams tells Mix News it was a ‘crappy tent trailer’ with no monetary value but meant the world to¬†her kids.

“When my son found out after school, he was really upset because we had trips planned to take our kids camping with their cousins this summer and right now we can’t go out and buy a new trailer.”

Williams says stealing has become a big problem in the rebuilding neighbourhood. Very recently, her neighbour’s truck was broken into while another almost had their ski-doos taken.

“We’ve already had enough crap happen, you don’t need to steal from us,” she said. “Enough is enough, it shouldn’t happen anyway but why would you target an area that’s been through so much.”

The family has also contacted RCMP and are hoping they can help find some answers.

“I just want to know who it is so I can say shame on you,” added Williams.
