Syncrude’s maintenance turnaround schedule is being moved up by roughly one month.
It was supposed to start at the beginning of April, however, the eight-week turnaround will now start March 15.
Suncor announced Wednesday this will allow Syncrude to address an unrelated issue which has been constraining capacity on a line that feeds bitumen from the mine to the upgrader.
With the turnaround change, Syncrude’s production for the first quarter is expected to be reduced to roughly 140, 000 barrels of oil per day net to Suncor.
This isn’t expected to affect the forecasted production for the full year.
