A Fort McMurray Oil Baron is taking home some hardware for his work during the regular season.
On Thursday, the Alberta Junior Hockey League announced the winners of the 2017/18 season-end awards.
Shane Fraser was named ‘Most Dedicated Player’ after a year which saw him put up career-high numbers and be named MOB captain.
Head Coach Tom Keca tells Mix News he’s a player a team can only hope for.
“He epitomizes everything we want in a player, he’s our captain, he’s our leader, vocal in the dressing room when he needs to be, but really his strength is on the ice with his commitments for every single aspect, whether it’s offensive or defensive,” said Keca.
With two games left in the regular season, Fraser has already set career highs in goals (20), assists (31), and points (51).
Three other Oil Barons were also nominated for an award. Eric Szudor was a finalist for ‘Goaltender of the Year’, backup netminder Chris Curr for ‘Rookie of the Year’, and Keca for ‘Coach of the Year’, an award he won last season.
The MOB will be back in action on Friday for their last homestand of the regular season going up against the Whitecourt Wolverines at 7:30 p.m.
