A third golf course will be opening in Fort McMurray this summer.
The Rotary Club of Fort McMurray has been working on its own course for nearly a decade and are now set to open the first nine-holes on July 1.
Rotarian Bryan Lutes tells Mix News the course will be a great challenge to all types of golfers.
“When its 18-holes, there’s water on all holes except for three, so it’s going to be very challenging but a very pretty course.”
The clubhouse and driving range will also be open to the public.
However, people wanting to play a full round will need to wait.
The back nine will be made over the next several years as the Rotary Club continues to look for additional funds.
“The economic downturn has caused us to pull back and do the nine and work overtime to get the other nine out,” added Lutes.
The course will be on Snow Eagle Drive next to the Fort McMurray International Airport and Phoenix Heli-Flight.
“It’s been a long process, decades of work put into it by Rotarians and we’re finally getting to the point where we’re going to open a course,” added Lutes.
