A contract worker has died at a Cenovus Energy oilsands site southeast of Fort McMurray.

In a release, the Calgary-based company says around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday an incident involving a hauling truck at Christina Lake occurred as a drilling rig was being moved at site.

“The incident resulted in the death of a worker employed by one of Cenovus’s third-party contracting companies,” the statement reads.

The name of the worker is not being released.

Cenovus says they’re conducting a full investigation into the cause of the incident.
