Arts Council Wood Buffalo Looking To Develop Talent Through Art Submissions 101

Arts Council Wood Buffalo is calling all aspiring artists for their Art Submissions 101 Workshop.

The workshop is in partnership with the 7th annual FuseSocial Timeraiser event and will educate artists on how to create strong artist call submissions.

The event will help these artists with preparing submissions for the 2018 Timeraiser Artist Call.

Programs and Partnership Manager for ACWB Diana Moser tells Mix News the workshops will feature tips on photography.

“You want to have the best possible representation of your painting, your sculpture or whatever it is. So, we have some ways to do that, even with just your cellphone. We’re also discussing tips on writing a great artist biography and statement.”

In addition to preparing possible Timeraiser submissions, the workshop will also include ways to photograph 2D and 3D artworks.

Moser says these workshops are great resources for artists trying to branch out of the community.

“The more compelling and concise that you can get across who you are, why you do your art, what your art is about and why you’re interested in this profession, the easier it is for these people who don’t know who you are to understand why they would want you as part of their program.”

The workshop runs Wednesday at the Redpoll Centre Conference Room from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are selling on EventBrite and range from $15-25.
