Man Arrested Following Road Rage Incident In Downtown Fort McMurray

One man is in hospital and another is in custody following a road rage incident in downtown Fort McMurray.

Wood Buffalo RCMP were called to Tamarack Village on Franklin Ave. around 11:33 a.m., Friday to reports of a stabbing.

Witnesses on scene told the Mounties a road rage incident occurred between two motorists, they both stopped in the Village parking lot, got out of their vehicles, and continued into a verbal argument.

Police say another man attempted to intervene, when he was assaulted by one of the drivers. The victim sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

No one else was injured in the altercation.

The suspect has been arrested and remains in jail.

Corporal Teri-Ann Deobald says no charges have been laid at this point as police continue to take statements.

The investigation continues.
