Husky Energy is looking to construct another oilsands project southwest of Fort McMurray.
Last week the energy giant applied to Alberta Energy Regulator to build, operate and reclaim the McMullen Willow Creek Thermal Project near Wabasca.
AER says the project would include a central processing facility supported by eight production pads comprising up to 12 CSS wells each.
The hope is to produce around 10,000 barrels per day over a 20 year period.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2019 with first steam in 2022 if the project is approved.
This follows an application filed by Suncor last month. They are looking to construct, operate, and later reclaim the Meadow Creek West Project which would be located 30 km southwest of town.
