Tuesdays Netflix Binge! “Mix Crew Picks”

Fort McMurray, AB, Canada / MIX 103.7

We are doing a special edition of the binge! Instead of me reviewing a show we will go through myself, Steve, Mike and Elly and see what all our favourite movies on Netflix are.

Tylers Pick – Gangs Of New York

My pick for favourite movie has to be Gangs of New York. It stars Leonardo Dicaprio and Daniel Day Lews in 1863. It’s about an Irish immigrant to America hunting down his fathers murderer. Leo plays Amsterdam Varron who as a child watch Bill The Butcher played my Lewis kill his father. Amsterdam is an Irish immigrant who is forced to pretend to be American born to join with The Butchers gang “The Natives” to get close enough to exact his revenge.

Steves Pick – Drive

Drive was Steve’s fave and for good reason. It stars Ryan Gosling. He’s a jack of all trades of sorts. He works as a Hollywood Stuntman, mechanic, and getaway driver (wanna guess what job gets him in some hot water?) Throughout the movie he falls in love with his neighbour while her husband is in prison eventually coming face to face with the ex-husband while at the same time his boss at his mechanics shop implicates him in past crimes. It’s a thrill ride all the way to the finish line.

Mikes Pick – Super Troopers

Mike went with the notorious stoner comedy “Super Troopers” it followers state troopers Thorny, Mac, Rabbit, Foster, and Farva while they guard the border between America and Canada out in the middle of nowhere. They basically screw around all day until one day a body is discovered sparking an investigation from the local police department. Our five …. heroes? Spring into action to save their jobs and sho up the cops.

Ellys Pick – Armageddon

Whenever I think about this movie I always get “Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith stuck in my head. Elly picked the Bruce Willis epic Armageddon. A Meteor is heading right toward Earth that is destined to destroy all life. Nasa doesn’t have the skills to drill through it so they get the help of a drilling company headed by Bruce Willis’ character Harry Stamper. They train them up to be astronauts and send them off to save the human race. Plus Ben Afflecks character is hilarious so that’s a plus.

What’s your favourite movie? Let me know in the comments!
