A new partnership is looking to make sure residents in Conklin have access to more affordable housing.
On Wednesday, the Wood Buffalo Housing and Development Corporation and the Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee signed a memorandum of understanding.
“It is an obvious opportunity for collaboration,” said Henry Hunter, President and CEO of WBHDC. “Our organizations share many common goals in addressing housing issues, particularly affordable housing, in the community of Conklin.”
Some of the goals the groups will look to complete are ensuring homeowners live in safe and quality affordable homes, conduct a review of best practices for affordable housing, and prioritizing new opportunities for better living conditions.
“Working together we will have a major impact on the future of affordable housing in Conklin,” added Margaret Quintal, Board Member for CRDAC
They will also look to create a “Affordable Housing Action” plan which will outline short to long term actions required to address the needs in Conklin and look at the service gaps between the community, the RMWB and the province.
