Fort Chipewyan Man Arrested For Aggravated Assault

Fort Chipewyan RCMP have arrested a 23-year-old man after a stabbing sent one person to hospital.

On Monday around 12:30 a.m., police were called to a home in the northern community. When officers arrived they found a 19-year-old suffering from stab wounds. He was airlifted to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in serious but stable condition. He’s since been released.

Police arrested Wayne Raymond Marcel for his alleged involvement. He’s now been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police say Marcel has been released from custody after a judicial hearing on a cash recognizance with court conditions.

He’s scheduled to appear in Fort Chipewyan Provincial Court on September 7.

Correction: A previous version stated the suspect was Raymond Marcel, which is incorrect. Mix News apologizes to Mr. Marcel for this error.
