The Fire Advisory for the Fort McMurray Forest Area is still in effect as the hot weather continues.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning as temperatures are expected to hover around 30 degrees until Sunday with no rain forecasted until Monday.

Under the advisory, all existing permits, including burn barrels, will be canceled and no new permits are being issued.

The province says a campfire, within fire rings, is still allowed.

Since March 1, there have been 80 fires in our region. Six are being held and two are under control and one is out of control. All others have been extinguished.
