Film Workshop Coming to Fort McMurray Giving Youth a Chance to Film Own Movie

People looking for a career in the movie industry will get a chance to have some first-hand experience.

The Reel to Real: A Celebration of Moving Images for Youth Society is hosting a free workshop giving people, between the age of 16-24, a chance to “conceive, plan, shoot, and edit” their own film over just one weekend.

People will learn the basics of lighting, sound, and editing film.

Award-winning animation and documentary filmmaker Jeff Chiba Stearns and award filmmaker and media creator Arun Fryer will be in attendance, giving tips, while helping create these short films.

Stearns has won 33 awards at different international film festivals while Fryer most recently won the Audience Choice Award at the Vancouver Short Film Festival.

The workshop will take place from August 25-27 at the Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre. As an added treat, all films will have a special screening on the last day for family and friends.
