This show had me hooked right out of the gate because of how different it was. It pushes some boundaries that other TV shows wouldn’t.
The show focuses on the family of Frank Gallagher. Frank is an alcoholic with 6 children of all different ages. The children have to be self-sufficient without him because he is never home. He lives off of disability payments and spends every day at the bar while his 6 kids pay for groceries, power, water and any other amenities they might need.
The show doesn’t really have a main character but a majority of the stories include the oldest kid Fiona. The others all depend on her to make sure they are fed and clothed at 21 she is forced to be a mother to her 6 siblings because otherwise, no one would take care of them. The show describes itself as a dramedy as it has its moments of being incredibly funny but other times you are genuinely concerned for the well being of this family.
I wouldn’t recommend this show to everyone but I still rate it 9.6/10. If you’re willing to invest some time into the show it will definitely hook you. Just be ready for it to occasionally make you incredibly uncomfortable.
