Construction Starting on Emergency Egress Routes

Construction in Wood Buffalo, Spring 2017 // Harvard Broadcasting Reporter Jaryn Vecchio

Construction on egress routes is set to start this week in Abasand, Beacon Hill, and Wood Buffalo.

The routes are being created to improve traffic flow in case of an emergency or disaster.

The Wood Buffalo route will expand the existing path that connects Woodward Lane and Wolverine Drive in Thickwood.

Construction in Beacon Hill will see an extension of Beaconwood Road, crossing Beacon Hill Drive and going directly onto Memorial Drive southbound.

Meanwhile, the Abasand egress route is being built between Abasand Drive and Memorial Drive southbound.

Work will start in Wood Buffalo – then continue on with Beacon Hill – followed by Abasand. Construction will take place from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday for the duration of the project.

All work is expected to be completed by November. More information can be found at rmwb.ca/rebuild.
