Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested a Fort McMurray man and are searching for another in connection with a stabbing in Thickwood.

On Sunday around 330 a.m., officers were called to an area of Sitka Dr after a 23-year-old man was stabbed and seriously injured. The victim was transported to hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old with aggravated assault. The suspect has been released from custody and is expected to appear in a Fort McMurray courtroom on July 24.

The Mounties are now searching for 27-year-old Corwin Benjamin, who police say will also be charged with aggravated assault.

Benjamin is described as black, 5’11, 155 lbs with black hair and black eyes.

RCMP say Benjamin is from Fort McMurray, but it’s possible he left the area. If you do see him, you’re asked not to approach him and call police immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
