Federal Government Investing Nearly $1M In Commmunity Infrastructure In The RMWB

Communities in the RMWB are receiving nearly $1 million from the Federal Government for improvements in community infrastructure.

David Lametti, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for Western Economic Diversification Canada, made the announcement at McMurray Experience Thursday afternoon.

In total, communities in our region are sharing $994,458.

The municipality is receiving $200,00 to renovate the Anzac Community Centre, Fort McKay First Nation is getting $135, 576 to upgrade its community arena, Fort McKay Metis Community Association is using $333,882 to construct a community pavilion on Metis Cultural grounds in Fort McMurray, and Fort McMurray #468 First Nation is getting $325,000 to renovate a Quonset currently being used as a storage space into a multipurpose community facility.

The funding is part of the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. In total, $46.2 million is being allocated for projects across Western Canada.
