The Gregoire Lake Provincial Park is receiving funding from the province to help rehabilitate.
On Wednesday, the Government of Alberta announced plans for the second of a five-year plan, worth $239 million, to help certain underfunded parks.
Along with Gregoire Lake, the Cold Lake Provincial Park will also get funding along with seven others across the province.
This year, the funding will focus mostly on infrastructure with $29 million being used to repair roads, sewers, campground buildings, picnic tables, and fire pits.
“Albertans want more places to camp and hike with their families and better facilities and playgrounds when they get there. We’re investing so all Albertans can get out and enjoy our beautiful wild space,” said Shannon Phillips, Minister of Environment and Parks, in a release.
The Gregoire Lake Provincial Park will use the funding to help rehabilitate the area while Cold Lake’s Provincial Park will be getting new backcountry campsites.
