My job here at Mix103.7 is “Music Director” and I still didn’t know some of these.
This is one I did have right. It’s not “Goat ya” or “Goat yeah”. According to the man himself it’s “go-tee-ay”.
This is one I am definitely guilty of. It’s not “Mackle-more” it’s “Mack-le-more”. It came from when he was a kid and he invented his own superhero “Professor Macklemore”.
3. Rae Sremmurd
*Warning for swearing*
Turns out the name is “Ear Drummers” backwards and they pronounce it “RAY SRIM-MERD.” Which sort of sounds like the name of an old farmer instead of a chart-topping hip-hop group.
4. Bon Iver
I have 100% been saying it “Bawn-eye-ver” but a am apparently uncultured because it’s pronounced “Bone ee-vair” as you can tell by Jimmy Fallon saying a million times in the first few seconds of the video.
I don’t know how I managed to work in radio for a few years and not realize I’ve been pronouncing her name wrong. If you’ve been saying “Ree-awe-na” then you are incorrect because it’s pronounced “Re-Anna” which in retrospect is pretty obvious.
Are there any I missed? Let me know in the comments!
