The women’s shelter here in Fort McMurray is getting a sizeable donation all thanks to a special show.
The “Awesome 80’s Prom” Dinner Theatre raised $65,000 with all the proceeds going to Waypoints. This was the second year in a row they held the event with the proceeds going to the non-for-profit.
“These folks are so passionate about the work that we do and we are very grateful that they bring their talents in this way to support us,” said Michelle Taylor, Executive Director of Waypoints.
All the proceeds will go towards the new shelter which is expected to break ground in April. The new shelter will add more one-room beds, allowing more families to stay together while ensuring more women aren’t turned away.
