The Assistant Deputy Chief of Operations for the RMWB is getting a promotion.
The Municipality has named Jody Butz as the new Fire Chief.
He will take over the role from current Chief Darby Allen, who’s retiring next Friday, the 24th.
In a release, Allen says Butz’s experience in Wood Buffalo, as well as in rural and volunteer firefighting, is an asset for the Fire Department.
“The appointment of Assistant Deputy Chief Butz demonstrates the excellence of employees within the Fire Department. It’s been a pleasure to work closely with Jody, who played a key leadership role in the Regional Emergency Operations Centre during last year’s wildfire,” said Allen. “I’m confident that I will be leaving our Fire Department in good hands.”
Butz has been with Regional Emergency Services since 2001 and has held a number of positions within the organization during that time.
He assumes the position on Monday, February 27th.
