Several Fort McMurray Residents Arrested in Drug Trafficking Network

A four-month long investigation is ending with several people from Fort McMurray being arrested in a drug trafficking network.

ALERT, Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Team, ended the investigation on January 19 after a search of five homes and eight vehicles. Among the items seized included 679 fentanyl pills, three firearms and cash totaling $120,000.

They also seized a number of different drugs and items related to drug trafficking:

  • 307 grams of cocaine
  • 659 grams of marijuana
  • 18 grams of psilocybin
  • 70 vials of steroids
  • 21 MDMA pills
  • 350 rounds of ammunition

The investigation started back in October when ALERT learned of the group and their apparent work in the local drug trade. Seven residents were arrested with 58 charges being laid between them.

These charges relate to drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
