Poetry being Collected to Show Appreciation of the Art

Your next piece of creative writing could be displayed in the RMWB.

The municipality is looking for new poems as part of their annual program, Words in Motion back for its sixth year.

It aims at bringing appreciation to the art with the chosen few getting their pieces displayed on buses and the municipal website.

Communication Strategist with the RMWB Monica Booth tells Mix News all forms of poetry all welcome.

“Free form, sonnets, ballads, song lyrics, raps, anything that is on your heart, get it out¬†on paper and send it our way.”

She adds your poem doesn’t have to be about the RMWB, you can explore¬†different avenues when writing for the program.

“Any topic that really speaks to you or something that you want to express yourself through, we welcome it.”

The winners will be celebrated at an event in April, celebrating National Poetry Month.

The grand winner will hear their art piece be read by Mayor Melissa Blake to start one of the region’s council meetings.

Submissions are due by February 3.
