Mounties are investigating after a pipeline was vandalized in Northwestern Alberta.
The incident took place on Sunday, near Hythe which is located west of Grand Prairie and 800 km west of Fort McMurray.
Constable Michelle Mosher tells Mix News the entire pipeline will need to be replaced.
“It appears as though a piece of construction equipment was used to dig up the pipeline and try ripping it out of the ground.”
Mosher notes due to the circumstance and price of the damage, this incident is a little unusual.
“Normally we don’t have damaged up in that price range.”
The damage is estimated to be between $500,000 and $700,000.
RCMP continues to investigate.
