With the holiday break approaching, many city services and businesses are changing their operating hours throughout the RMWB.

If you need to do some last minute shopping, Peter Pond Mall will be open on Christmas Eve from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Meanwhile, the movie theatre and some outdoor skating rinks will be open throughout the Christmas break.

As for municipal services; 

There will be no changes to curbside waste collection over the holidays. Service will follow the regular schedule.

Transit Services

When it comes to the transit schedule, there will be a few changes on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Only the Airport Shuttle, Route 11, as well as the Thickwood and Timberlea Express, Routes 15 and 16, will be operational and will be operating on a Sunday schedule.

The municipality is extending services on New Year’s Eve. The last run for Routes 11 and 15 will begin at 1 a.m. from Main St. Route 16 will run once an hour from Main St. from 9 p.m. with the last run beginning at 1 a.m. All bus rides will also be free after 6 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.

Fort McMurray Landfill:

The landfill will be closed December 25th and January 1st, and open regular hours throughout the rest of the holiday season.

Janvier and Conklin Transfer Stations:

Both transfer stations will be closed from December 24th – 26th, and on January 1st – 2nd. Regular location hours will resume on January 3rd in Janvier, and January 4th in Conklin.

The RMWB’s Municipal offices will be closed on December 26th and 27th, as well as January 2nd. Even though municipal offices will be closed, all essential and emergency services will continue regular operations.

Fitness:

Keyano Sport and Wellness ‏Centre will be closed from Friday, December 23rd at 12 p.m., until January 3rd at 5 a.m. for the Holidays.

The Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The centre will re-open on Boxing Day from 7:00 a.m. – 10: 00 p.m. All other holiday hours for the Park can be found here.

Vista Ridge Skill Hill will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and January 1st.

Other:

The Canadian Red Cross office in Fort McMurray and Edmonton will be closed Friday, December 23rd until January 2nd, 2017.

SOS – Crisis Line, which provides phone support for crisis prevention, intervention and post-vention is open 24/7. You can call 780-743-HELP (4357).

The Arts Council Wood Buffalo office will be closed December 26th – 30th and re-opens on January 2nd.
