Workers for the Buffalo Metis Catering Company, that provide meal and housekeeping at the Beaver River camp, were given their notice last month.
170 unionized staff will have to find new jobs as of December 26th.
The staff, represented by UFCW Local 401, voted in August to reject a 44 percent cut in pay, benefits and travel allowances, as well as giving up overtime.
UFCW Local 401 President Doug O’Hallaran tells Mix News that the workers, who were 80 percent commuters, could not afford further cuts in pay.
The employees voted back in February to also deny an increase in pay, as they felt it would negatively impact the company, with the way the economy was at the time.
O’Hallaran says UFCW Local 401 will be working with lawyers and staff to find a way to hopefully retain their jobs.
